Bombshell for the Boss - Page 39

“It’s nice,” she said, and knew that sounded lame, but really, she’d been lucky to squeeze those two words out of her tight throat. The room was lovely, but impersonal. There were no hints to the inner thoughts of Ethan Hart. It was as if this were a palatial hotel room. And actually, that’s what it was. Though Ethan owned this beautiful home, until the last week or so, he’d spent almost no time in it. At most, it was a place to sleep and to store his clothes.

There were no family photos in the room, no scattered coins on the dresser or keys casually discarded. Sadie realized that outside of his office, his company, Ethan had less of a life than she’d guessed. But maybe she could help him change that while she was there.

“Thanks,” he said, “glad you like it.” He gave her a wry smile, walked to the bed and dropped her onto the mattress.

Sadie yelped in surprise, then grinned as she bounced. “Very suave.”

“Again. Thanks.”

She toed off her shoes and let them hit the floor with a thud. Then her fingers went to the buttons on her shirt. He was watching every move she made and Sadie loved the flash of heat she saw in his eyes.

“Trying to make me crazy by undoing those buttons extra slowly?”

“Is it working?” She knew it was. She could feel his impatience building as quickly as her own. It felt like forever since she’d touched him. Since he’d been inside her.

“Way too well,” he said tightly, and tore off his own shirt, sending buttons skittering across the hardwood floor.

She drew in a fast, deep breath. He must have a gym somewhere in this palace, Sadie told herself, because the man’s body was sharply defined muscles that made her fingers itch to touch him. He undid his slacks, stepped out of them and his shorts, and then he was standing in front of her and her heartbeat jumped into a gallop. His chest wasn’t the only impressive physical trait the man possessed.

“You’re overdressed,” he murmured, leaning forward to unhook her jeans and pull them down and off her legs. Then he gave her a smile of appreciation. “If I’d known you were wearing black lace, it might not have taken us so long to get here.”

In the heat of his gaze, Sadie felt beautiful. Powerful. Her stomach swirled as she sat up, undid her shirt and shrugged it off to display the matching black lace bra.

“You are a picture,” he whispered. “But you’re still overdressed.”

She smiled up at him. “Why don’t you see what you can do about that?”

He reached for her and she rose up to meet him. His fingers flicked the clasp of her bra free and his eyes fired even as he filled his hands with her breasts and rubbed her pebbled nipples with his thumbs.

Sadie’s head fell back as a buzz of awareness swirled through her, tightening into a coil in the pit of her stomach. It felt so good. He felt so good. His hands were strong and gentle and oh so talented.

She opened her eyes to look up at him and saw her own desire reflected in his gaze. “I’ve missed you,” she admitted.

“I missed you, too,” he said softly, “and I didn’t want to.”

Sadie almost laughed. That was so Ethan. “Then it’s twice as nice to hear,” she said, and took his face in her palms to kiss him.

Instantly, he levered her back onto the bed and covered her body with his. His mouth latched on to hers and their tongues twisted together in a sensual dance that began slowly and in seconds became breathless, frenzied. Sadie ran her hands up and down his arms, up to his broad shoulders. She curled her fingers in, holding on to him as if to keep him right where he was. His hands swept up and down her body; his fingers hooked around the thin elastic of her panties and pushed them down. She lifted her hips, helping him. She wanted nothing between them, not even that tiny scrap of lace.

He dipped his head to her breast and Sadie took a harsh breath at the sensation of him drawing her body into his mouth. He suckled her, drawing and pulling until it felt as if he would tear her soul from her and into him. And while she sighed and writhed beneath him, he touched her core, dipping his fingers into her heat as he had once before, and this time it was even better.

Because they were here, in his house, and she could shout if she wanted to? Because she’d finally accepted that the love she felt for him wasn’t going anywhere?
